Abstract

This article narrates the experience of a reflective group with LGBT* students, facilitated during an internship in social psychology, at a university in the south of Santa Catarina. The group was inspired by the methodology of gender reflective groups, being in an open format, with six meetings and an average duration of one hour per meeting. The themes of the meetings were: “Coexistence agreements”, “Self-esteem, society and affectations”, “Mental Health of the LGBT* Population”, “Reflections on gender and mental health”, “Sexual Diversity and Homotransaffective Families”, “Student permanence and in the world of work». By addressing issues that permeate the experiences of LGBT* people, such as LGBTphobia, family conflicts and self-construction, it was possible to argue about the importance of safe and inclusive spaces in the university context, encouraging future initiatives that promote projects with this purpose.
