It presents clinical examples of our therapeutic practice that highlight prejudices, stigmas and social inequality, making it possible to identify such disparities that are perceived and/or brought about during Mental Health care. It highlights the importance of practices based on O.D. to promote inclusion, equity and appreciation of all voices. As well as the understanding that dialogues strengthen ties and open new perspectives. This work reinforces the importance of equality and social justice for building more inclusive services that promote well-being, collaboration and the development of culturally responsive and intersectional practices that promote the quality of life of all individuals and families.
Alessandra Alves Patrício, Denise Maria Custodio Nunes de Araujo, Roberto Ricardi Costard, Rosangela Rahal Polati Copyright (c) 2025 Nova Perspectiva Sistêmica https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/799 Thu, 01 Aug 2024 00:00:00 -0300 Opening windows to the post-modern breeze https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/792
This original article offers a theoretical reflection based on the epistemology that supports narrative practices. We are stories and participants in stories generated from relationships, among which we find the marital relationship that, while present, becomes the center and starting point for the family system. The work emphasizes the quality of this relationship, believing that conflicts, differences, and multiple truths exist and are opportunities for marital encounters and misunderstandings. The aim was to offer an understanding that, based on a not-knowing stance, dialogue, externalization, and re-authoring are good practices for the dynamics between couples. Throughout the text, we explore authors such as Michael White, Harlene Anderson, Marilene Grandesso, and others who are also references in these concepts, and we offer original metaphors that connect theory and practice, making them accessible beyond the therapeutic environment.
Thaisline Priscila Day, David Day Copyright (c) 2025 Nova Perspectiva Sistêmica https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/792 Thu, 01 Aug 2024 00:00:00 -0300 “They don›t want our bodies in these spaces” https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/766
This article narrates the experience of a reflective group with LGBT* students, facilitated during an internship in social psychology, at a university in the south of Santa Catarina. The group was inspired by the methodology of gender reflective groups, being in an open format, with six meetings and an average duration of one hour per meeting. The themes of the meetings were: “Coexistence agreements”, “Self-esteem, society and affectations”, “Mental Health of the LGBT* Population”, “Reflections on gender and mental health”, “Sexual Diversity and Homotransaffective Families”, “Student permanence and in the world of work». By addressing issues that permeate the experiences of LGBT* people, such as LGBTphobia, family conflicts and self-construction, it was possible to argue about the importance of safe and inclusive spaces in the university context, encouraging future initiatives that promote projects with this purpose.
Jessica Esteves, Camila Maffioleti Cavaler, Dipaula Minotto da Silva Copyright (c) 2025 Nova Perspectiva Sistêmica https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/766 Thu, 01 Aug 2024 00:00:00 -0300 A sea of stories, languages and metaphors in the intervention with grief support groups https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/772
As a society, we barely find embraceful spaces for the multiple sufferings from the loss of something or someone very important to us, this grief moment is highlighted by intense emotions difficult to the griever to self-regulate. The objective of this article was to present an experiential report on the use of figurative language and discuss some mourning metaphors co-constructed in grief support groups for bereaved children and adults. Five metaphoric expressions in different groups were described: Balloon, Destroyed Brick Wall, Sea of Mourning, Emotional Basement and Surviving in the Jungle. The use of the figurative language in group interventions fomented the participants’ elaboration of diffuse emotions and feelings, improved the immersion of bereaved children in group work and mediated emotional and physical elaborations on their grieving processes, stating as a useful resource to integrate their mourning processes.
Pedro Henrique Haefliger Geremia, Bianca Zola Bahia Marques, Luiz Henrique Nicolau, Gisele Lima dos Santos, Ivânia Jann Luna Copyright (c) 2025 Nova Perspectiva Sistêmica https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/772 Thu, 01 Aug 2024 00:00:00 -0300 Significant social networks of women with a history of alcohol abuse https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/757
Alcohol abuse is a multi-determined phenomenon and the repercussions cover different spheres of life, including significant social relationships. Considering specifically the female audience, this study aimed to understand the structural characteristics and functions of the significant social networks of women who abuse alcohol. To this end, qualitative research was carried out with 11 women with a history of alcohol abuse monitored at CAPSad. Narrative interviews and the construction of a network map were used as instruments for data collection. The results demonstrated that the participants’ significant social networks were mainly made up of family members and CAPSad professionals and presented limitations and weakened bonds and their functions. The need to strengthen the links and functions of social networks for this audience is evident.
Claudia Daiana Borges, Daniela Ribeiro Schneider Copyright (c) 2025 Nova Perspectiva Sistêmica https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/757 Thu, 01 Aug 2024 00:00:00 -0300 Intergenerational transmission in Father-Child relationships: https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/760
This integrative review verified, in the literature, the associations between intergenerational transmission and the relationships between father and children in families with children from three to 11 years old. The following databases were consulted: CINAHL, Index Psicologia, LILACS, BDENF, PsycINFO, PubMed, SciELO, SCOPUS and Web of Science. 15 studies were included in this review. There was a predominance in the continuity of positive relationships between generations, that is, men with more involved fathers developed a warmer parenting relationship. To a lesser extent, continuity of distant relationships between parents and children was also observed, and reproduction of physical disciplinary practices between generations. On the other hand, it was also verified, in the studies, the discontinuity of certain models of parental relationship, in an attempt to avoid reproducing conflicting or distant parental relationships.
Andriéli de Oliveira Brizola Machado, Tamires Dias dos Santos, Beatriz Pires Coltro, Mauro Luís Vieira Copyright (c) 2025 Nova Perspectiva Sistêmica https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/760 Thu, 01 Aug 2024 00:00:00 -0300 About farewells https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/842 Helena Maffei Cruz Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/842 Thu, 01 Aug 2024 00:00:00 -0300 The group as social construction https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/787
In the field of constructionist practices, the understanding of the «group as a social construction » offers a non-essentialist perspective focused on conversation, collaboration between therapist and client and ethical-political sensitivity to group intervention. In this essay, we present experiences of its use in clinical, institutional and community contexts, specifically short-term mental health groups, the establishment of an AIDS NGO, and engagement with the transvestite community. The analysis of these experiences shows, on the one hand, the richness, flexibility and usefulness of constructionist tools. On the other hand, the challenges faced question the group practice institutional location and the set of actions, identities and expectations that delimit its possibilities. Transitioning from clinical to community settings invites us to reflect on the commitments of our practices to the society we live in, in other words, to think about the politics of group practice.
Emerson Fernando Rasera Copyright (c) 2025 Nova Perspectiva Sistêmica https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/787 Thu, 01 Aug 2024 00:00:00 -0300 Echoes and resonances https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/840 Leonora Corsini Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/840 Thu, 01 Aug 2024 00:00:00 -0300 Editorial NPS 33(79) https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/838 Adriano Beiras Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/838 Thu, 01 Aug 2024 00:00:00 -0300 Current challenges in implementing practical actions https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/841 Rosana Lazaro Rapizo Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistanps.com.br/nps/article/view/841 Thu, 01 Aug 2024 00:00:00 -0300
